About Centre Camp
Centre Camp is the heart of Underland, an accessible, inclusive space where everyone can hang out, participate, or host an event/workshop/performance or gathering. Centrally located near Rangers, Sanctuary and First Aid, you can drop by anytime to chill, catch up with mates, meet new friends or get creative.
The vibe is more like a uni share house lounge room than a doof space, we've got comfy cushions galore, couches and a quirky, engaging workshop schedule that changes daily plus a few surprises!
Centre Camp is supported by a rad crew who are on hand to help hosts set up for workshops and events, answer general questions, and keep the space tidy.
If you'd like to join the Centre Camp crew and be part of the magick please register via the online volunteer form (scroll down the page to find the form, in the "Preferred Positions" section click "add record" to open list of options)

Centre Camp is accessible 24 hours but operational between 10am - midnight.
We have an awesome 15m-long stretch tent to provide shelter which includes lots of carpet, rugs and cushions, a basic PA with mixer and a couple of corded handheld mics. There's also relaxing mood lighting and access to 240v power. No bins are provided so you will need to manage your own MOOP and Leave No Trace.
Unfortunately applications for Centre Camp Events at Underland 2025 are NOW CLOSED. But don't give up just yet, because we might still have a time slot available for you! So bring what you need and, once you arrive at the event and settle in, feel free to come and talk to the crew at Centre Camp. We will figure something out.
Here's some information to help you prepare your event...
Slots are 2 hours maximum and scheduled between 10am and midnight. Shorter slots are welcome. We will try to accommodate your preference for time/day. If suitable, we may schedule more than one workshop/event at the same time.
It's OK if your workshop is not suitable for kids, just let us know in your application.
Workshops must be MOOP free and Leave No Trace.

Hold up Boris Brejcha, Centre Camp is not a doof space, and we recommend you reach out to a sound camp to line up a set.
Awesome, we love this! Come talk to the crew at Centre Camp. We will figure something out.
Centre Camp activities will be listed in the What Where When Guide (WWW) via the Centre Camp display.
During Underland, the Centre Camp chalkboard gets updated daily (sometimes more) with all the upcoming events for the day. Sometimes we post about Centre Camp events on the Common Arts Victoria workspace on Slack, but this is more random than coordinated.
Workshop hosts are encouraged to promote their Centre Camp event before and during Underland using whatever means possible. Take photos of your event only with the consent of participants.
Shhh... Centre Camp crew is one of the best volunteer gigs on the paddock! From 10am - midnight Centre Camp crew hang out at the space, provide general information, assist workshop hosts to set up, keep the space tidy, chat to people and be a point of contact with Centre Camp Lead if required.
Centre Camp shifts are 4 hours in duration, and crew are rostered in pairs wherever possible. Shifts are scheduled between 10am and midnight, and we will try to accommodate crew preferences for times/days if we can.
If you have spare time before or after Underland, and you want to spend an extra day onsite, Centre Camp crew are needed to help with set up and pack down of the basic decor and furniture. This is an easy and fun way to extend your Underland experience.
